Romi Mayes is a Canadian born musician. Romi Mayes was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba and began performing on stage at the age of 15 years, and touring throughout the US and the UK.

Styles

Mayes' style has been described as edgy, bourbon-infused country blues and bluegrass, characterized by sympathy and honesty. She has been linked to various artists from around the globe which have helped her to be recognized- these artists include Ricky Skaggs, Billy Joe Shaver, Corb Lund, Iris DeMent, Jim Cuddy, Joe Ely, Fred Eaglesmith, Sue Foley, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings, Jimmy Dale Gilmore, Butch Hancock, Bo Ramsay, Martha Wainwright, Hayes Carll, Lynn Miles, Gurf Morlix, and Barney Bentall.[citation needed]

Romi Mayes has recently been awarded Song Writer of the Year and Album of the Year at the 2007 Western Canadian Music Awards and has had various other nominations for her latest albums, "Living Room Sessions" (2005) and "Sweet Somethin' Steady" (2006).[citation needed]
