The Gospel according to David
Proof that musicians get better with age, and that soul isn’t always black.
This is really all you need to get through life — The sentiments of the song, the power of delivery — knowing these guys have taken a thousand bullets in the wars and can still Stand And Deliver the goods.
I feel like I owe it to someone
Is this David Crosby or Willie Dixon? Is that Steve Stills or Jeff Beck? Is that Billy Preston I hear on the Hammond? And was this written by David Crosby or Muddy Waters?
But when you hear his sweet-little kitty-cat “Thank you,” at the very end, you know that ain’t no Mud singin’. Just a channel, bringin’ in the other side. A window into “why.”
I going to find a space inside to laugh
Delivered at the 25th Anniversary of the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame at Madison Square Garden in New York City with every cat they ever knew listening . . . with every angle caught by 20 cameras . . . they let their freak flag fly wide and high.
This is a performance every musician on that stage, including Crosby and Stills, and every player listening, hopes to deliver once in their lives.
Proof — stick to it, don’t give up, and you’re only going to get better at what you do.
I’m not giving in . . . an inch . . . to fear
Listen to this LOUD.
